USE OF HOW, WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHICH, WHERE, WHEN TO FORM QUESTIONS.

They are used to ask about facts . ( इनका उपयोग तथ्यों के बारे में पूछने के लिए किया जाता है।)

Wh…… question, We do not expect yes-no answer. (Wh…… प्रश्न, हम हां-ना में उत्तर की अपेक्षा नहीं करते।

‘How’ is used to express means (साधना ) , manner (ढंग ), enquire about someone well being (कुशल मंगल की पूछताछ ), progress ( प्रगति ) .

We usually use ‘Who’ to ask a question about people . ( व्यक्तियों के लिए )

‘What’ refer to something not human ( वस्तुओ  ) but it can refer to people when placed before a noun .

For asking reason of something we use ‘Why’ . ( कारण पूछने के लिए )

‘Which’ refers to people ( व्यक्तियों ) or to something not human . ( वस्तुओं ) .

‘Where’ is used to ask question about place ( जगह ) , Position ( स्थिति ) , or direction ( गति – दिशा ) .

‘When’ is used to ask question about time ( समय ) , something happens ( कुछ होना ) , happened ( हो चूका ) or will happen ( होने वाला ) .

                                             Interrogative Words ( प्रश्नवाचक शब्द )

How – कैसे , कैसा How many – कितनी ( countable quantity )
How long – कब तक How Much – कितना , कितनी ( uncountable quantity )
How फार – कितनी दूर / कहाँ तक ?

1. आप कैसे है ? How are you ?
2. आपके क्या हाल -चाल है ? How do you do ?
3. आपको कितनी चॉकलेट की जरुरत है ? How many chocolate do you need ?
4. तुम्हारे पास कितनी किताबे होंगी ? How many books will you be having ?
5. तुम्हारे पास कितना समय है ? How much time do you have ?
6. तुम कितने समय साथ रहे ?  How long have you been together ?
7. उसने कब तक काम किया ?  How long had he worked ?
8. तुम्हारी उम्र क्या है ?  How old are you ?
9. तुम्हारी यात्रा कैसी रही ? How was your journey ?
10. तुम्हारे घर के लोग कैसे है ?  How are your family members ?
11. चांदनी चौक से कालका जी कितनी दूर है ? How far is Kalka ji  from Chandni chowk ?
12. फिल्म कैसी थी ? How was the movie ?
13. आप यह कंप्यूटर कब से चला रहे है ? How long have you been operating ?
14. तुम्हारे बैग में कितनी किताबे है ? How many books are there in your bag ?
15. तुम्हे कितनी शक्कर चाहिए ? How much sugar do you want ?

           Who – कौन  Whose – किसका , किसके For whom – किसके लिए                                         Whom -किसे किससे  With whom – किसके साथ

1. वो कौन है ? Who is he ?
2. यहाँ कौन आयेगा ? Who will come here ?
3. कौन गाना गाऐगा ? Who will sing a song ?
4. स्कूल की फीस कौन भरेगा ? Who will pay the school fees ?
5. मेरे लिए एक गिलास पानी कौन लाएगा ? Who will bring a glass of water for me ?
6. बच्चे की मदद कौन करेगा ? Who will help the child ?
7. मेरे साथ कौन नाचेगा ?  Who will dance with me ?
8. तुम्हारे भाई को कौन पढ़ाता है ?  Who teach your brother ?
9. तुम किसके साथ मंदिर जा रही हो ? With whom are you going to the temple ?
10. ये किसका पर्स है ?  Whose purse is this ?
11. तुम किससे बात कर रहे थे ?  Who were you talking to ?
12. सौ रूपये के खुल्ले किसके पास है ?  Who has got change for Rs. 100 ?
13. तुम किससे मिलना चाहते हो ?   Whom do you want to meet ?
14. समय पर काम कौन ख़त्म करेगा ?  Who will finish the work in time ?
15. तुम इतना सब किसके लिए कर रहे हो ? For whom are you doing so much ?

1. तुम्हारा नाम क्या है ? what’s your name ?
2. तुम क्या जानना चाहते हो ?  What do you want to know ?
3. तुम्हारे भाई का नाम क्या है ? What’s your brother’s name ?
4. तुम्हारे घर का पता क्या है ? What’s your residential address ?
5. तुम क्या करना चाह रहे हो ? What are you trying to do ?
6. तुम क्या लिख रहे हो ? What are you writing ?
7. तुम एक बजे क्या कर रहे थे ? What were you doing at one o’clock ?
8. तुम क्या करने की योजना बना रहे थे ? What were you planning to do ?
9. हाथी क्या खाते है ? What do Elephants eat ?
10. उसके ख़राब नतीजे के पीछे क्या कारण है ? What is the reason behind her poor result ?
11. क्या सुन्दर तारों भरी रात है ?  What a beautiful starry night ?
12. अब मुझे क्या करना है ? What have i to do now ?

1. तुम इतने व्यस्त क्यों हो ?  Why are you so busy ?
2. लोग टीवी क्यों देखते है ?  Why do people watch T.V. ?
3. तुम वहां क्यों गई थी ?  Why did you go there ?
4. तुम इतने शैतान क्यों हो ?  Why are you so naughty ?
5. तुम स्कूल क्यों नहीं गई ?  Why didn’t you go to school ?
6. तुम कसरत क्यों नहीं करते हो ? Why don’t you exercise ?
7. हम लोग उसका काम करने की तकलीफ क्यों करें ? Why shall we take the pain to do his work ?
8. तुम उसके साथ क्यों नाच रही थी ? Why were you dancing with him ?
9. तुम अभी क्यों सो रही हो ? Why are you sleeping now ?
10. तुम ठीक से काम क्यों नहीं करते हो ? Why don’t your work properly ?
11. तुम अपना गृहकार्य क्यों नहीं पूरा करते हो ?  Why don’t you complete your home work ?

6. तुम्हे कौन सा खेल सबसे ज्यादा पसंद है ? Which game do you like most ?

3. दिव्या कहाँ जा रही है ? Where is Divya going ?
4. तुम कहाँ रहती हो ? Where do you live ?
